Anna grew up on the Gulf coast of Florida, swimming, boating, and wakeboarding almost every day. She would traverse the mud flats when the tide went out looking for sea creatures. Every summer she camped on the shores of North Carolina’s lakes or in the swamps of north Florida, diving in the cold clear springs.
Anna attended the University of Florida and then received her master’s degree in special education in Brooklyn, while teaching and enjoying the culture, art, and food the city had to offer. Her passion for healthy eating led her to pursue her holistic nutrition certification when she was later living in Portland, Oregon.
In Portland, Anna worked for a non-profit, developing programs for people with disabilities. She received a grant to develop and implement a nutrition and cooking curriculum with a wonderful group of volunteers. She also tutored students in writing and executive functioning skills.
Anna enjoys playing in parks, camping, and having tea parties with her 6 year old daughter. She loves cooking healthy, whole food meals and creating healthy dessert recipes. She recently began taking ukulele lessons and is an avid reader of books on Chinese medicine and holistic health.
Anna discovered the magic and beauty of Waldorf through reading about other models of education after teaching in New York. This interest and love grew after her daughter attended Waldorf school with a teacher who was extremely inspiring and truly fostered a love of learning in his students. Anna is so excited and honored to be a part of Peace Valley Charter School!
