Amanda McGee is a teacher, wife, mother, and friend. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for 20 years.
They have two wonderful sons, Justin, age 12, and Mason, age 9, and an energetic dog named Leia. Amanda graduated from Boise State University with her teaching degree in 2000. She began her teaching career as a first grade teacher in the Boise School District for 7 years. One of her greatest joys was being a stay at home mom with her boys in their early years to be their first teacher, helping them learn about their world and nurturing their love of learning. Amanda has been fortunate to work at a private cooperative preschool for the past 5 years. She has been a substitute in the West Ada Schools for preschool through 5th grade, allowing her to work with various ages. Amanda's passion for teaching is finding each student's strengths and helping them grow and learn. She also enjoys building relationships with their families and views them as partners in education.
Amanda received an award for the Rotary Distinguished Educator, in recognition for inspirational guidance of the students of Boise, ID. In 2008, she self-published a children's Christmas book. When she is not teaching, Amanda is cooking, enjoying sushi, reading with her boys, attending Pilates classes, volunteering for various school or community events, and cheering for the Boise State Broncos and her boys at their sports events. As a family they enjoy golf outings, camping, nurturing a garden, and spending holidays and gatherings with extended family and friends. She looks forward to her journey at Peace Valley Charter School - it will be an added bonus to her teaching career.
