Peace Valley Charter School has openings on our governing board and all interested members of the community are encouraged to apply or refer other potentially interested individuals. It is our desire to build a board of members from both inside and outside the school parent community to better represent the Treasure Valley community. We are particularly interested in candidates with skills or experience in the following areas: Legal, Education, Fundraising, and Business/Executive. Waldorf or Charter School Board experience is helpful, but not required.
Board members are responsible for the academic, financial, and organizational performance of the School. The Charter Board also has responsibility for policy and operational decisions of the school. The Board holds regularly scheduled monthly meetings and additional meetings as needed.
In order to be considered, the candidate must have attended at least one Board meeting prior to appointment. Our next meeting is scheduled for March 11th at 5:30pm at the school.
To apply, prospective candidates will submit a letter of interest, including a statement on their motivation to join the Board, and include a copy of their resume or CV. We also ask candidates to review the Idaho Charter Commission's Conflict of Interest Survey in order to identify any potential conflicts of interest.
Candidates will be interviewed in a public session at the next Board meeting. Candidates will then be discussed during open session and Board members will make nominations and vote to accept new Board members to be sworn in at the next Board meeting.
If accepted, Board members must submit to a background check. Forms for this are available at the front office of the school and the cost is about $34.
It is also an expectation that new Board members read Understanding Waldorf by Jack Petrash (available at the Boise public library).
Please send applications and questions to the Peace Valley Board.
Peace Valley Charter School is organized as an Idaho nonprofit corporation and a Federal 501c3. It is authorized by the Idaho Public Charter School Commission.
Pursuant to its bylaws, a Governing Board of Directors governs Peace Valley. In addition, the Governing Board includes the Executive Director and Business Administrator as ex officio members.
The Governance Board believes that Peace Valley's ability to carry out its mission and meet its goals depends on the Board's ability to provide strategic direction, select and support strong school leaders, and ensure its financial stability.

Public Participation at Governing Council Meetings
Persons requesting to speak to the Governing Council in an open meeting need to sign up prior to the start of the open session of the Council meeting. Resolution of questions or responses to proposals should not be expected at this meeting; staff or others may be asked to research and/or prepare materials and solutions for a later time. Fifteen minutes total have been scheduled for persons requesting to speak. Three minutes will be allotted for individual requests and five minutes will be allotted for group requests. If more requests are received than the allotted time permits, those requests may be scheduled for the next Council business meeting.
